Joshua Gleis
Dr. Joshua Gleis is an international security consultant and political risk analyst. His clients include politicians, investors, and investigative and security firms, who he provides with a variety of services ranging from risk assessments, physical security recommendations and in-depth intelligence analyses on a variety of regions, topics and organizations in the United States and around the world. He has also advised US government agencies on matters related to counter-terrorism, counter-insurgencies, and public diplomacy.Joshua is the author of Withdrawing Under Fire: Lessons Learned from Islamist Insurgencies (Potomac Books, Inc., April 2011), and Hezbollah & Hamas: Politics, Terrorism & Irregular Warfare in the Arab-Israeli Conflict (Johns Hopkins University Press, Fall 2012). He has worked in a variety of positions in the diplomatic and security sectors, which led him to meetings with world leaders from across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia, and travels as far as Pyongyang, North Korea for third-party negotiations.
Joshua has held positions at the NYPD’s Counter-Terrorism Bureau, Harvard University’s Belfer Center, and Columbia University’s Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies. He received his PhD and Masters in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University – the nation’s oldest school of international affairs. He also has a Bachelor of Arts in Near Eastern Studies from Cornell University.
Joshua has appeared on numerous television and radio programs, including CBS News Sunday Morning, Fox News Live, NBC, Fox News Radio, Sirius, and NPR. He has published multiple articles in books and journals, and his op-eds have appeared in publications such as the International Herald Tribune, Boston Globe, Huffington Post, Christian Science Monitor and the Jerusalem Post.
