LTC Reid L. Sawyer
Director, Combating Terrorism Center, West Point

Sawyer is the Director and one of the founders of the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point. He is also an Affiliate at the Arnold A. Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies. Sawyer actively advises a number of federal, state, and local governmental agencies regarding the terrorist threat and is a member of the Fire Department of New York Terrorism Task Force. His research centers on counterterrorism policy and strategy and the effectiveness of national policy instruments in countering terrorist threats.
A career intelligence officer, Sawyer has served in a variety of special operations assignments, involving operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, and South America.
Sawyer received a B.S. from the United States Military Academy and an M.P.A. from Columbia University. He is currently completing a Ph.D. at Columbia University.
