Séverine Autesserre is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Barnard College and a Member of the Arnold A. Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies at Columbia University.  Her research interests include civil and international wars, international interventions, peacebuilding, peacekeeping, and African politics.  Autesserre holds membership in the American Political Science Association, the African Studies Association, and the International Studies Association.

Autesserre has held professional affiliations with Yale University, Action Against Hunger, Doctors Without Borders, Doctors of the World, New York University, and the United Nations.  She has received honors and fellowships from the International Studies Association, the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation, Columbia University, Barnard College, the African Studies Association, the United States Institute of Peace, the Mellon Foundation, and New York University.

Séverine Autesserre received her B.A. from Sorbonne University, her M.A. from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, her M.I.A. from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, and her Ph.D. from New York University.
